Practical method developed satisfying criteria of practical antiknock performance evaluation; method used in recent West Coast octane requirement survey, with 220 cars tested; test data show percentage of knock free cars at various octane levels; equations reported for obtaining road octane number indirectly from laboratory F-1 and F-2 engine ratings.
