Experimental program conducted at Pratt and Whitney Aircraft Div and wind tunnel test data obtained during comprehensive study of supersonic pod to pod inlet interference; test established, for typical Mach 3.0 design mixed compression inlet, dividing line between regions of expelled shock interference and completely stable operation and total pressure recovery penalty imposed by operating with pod to pod interference; penalty required to maintain stability during initial transient of onset of "buzz" was so severe that it cannot be considered practical; plate placed between pods was found to be very effective in eliminating interference penalty.
