The invention relates to a ship activity area defining method. The ship activity area defining method comprises the steps that 1, S is calculated based on a linear deceleration model; step 2, based on the gyration motion, calculating the maximum gyration longitudinal distance Ad of the ship; step 3, determining a ship activity area; the scale D of the ship activity water area is equal to max {Ad, S}, and 4, determining the area of the ship activity area as piD2.
