Vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) communication is emerging as a crucial technology in enhancing road safety and traffic efficiency. This paper presents the design and simulation of a V2V communication system using cognitive radio technology, focusing on spectrum sensing and efficient data transmission between vehicles. The cognitive radio technique allows dynamic spectrum access by detecting unused channels, minimizing interference with other users, and optimizing bandwidth utilization. The system continuously monitors and transmits essential vehicle data such as speed, temperature, and proximity to other vehicles. The MATLAB simulation demonstrates the efficiency of this approach in handling real-time data exchange between vehicles. The results show that cognitive radios significantly improve spectrum usage and reduce data transmission delays, making V2V communication more reliable in dynamic traffic environments. These findings lay the groundwork for phase two of the project, where the system will be implemented in real-time vehicle networks to validate its performance under real-world conditions. This ensures precise information exchange between vehicles while avoiding the introduction of noise or incorrect data.
