Aircraft accident rates by month were analyzed for randomness, cyclic pattern or increasing/decreasing trends for all attack, fighter and propeller type aircrafts. The technique of Runs test was employed to the runs above and below the median. The analysis of pilot/aircraft time dependent variables was also done for both accident and non-accident pilots/aircrafts. The hypothesis tested was, the accidents per hundred pilots/aircrafts were same for each category of pilot/aircraft variable. The chi square one sample test, the chi square test for K independent samples and the Mann-Whitney U test were used for the analysis. The aircrafts considered for the analysis of pilot variables were A-4, A-7 and F-4, and the aircraft considered for the analysis of aircraft variable was F-4. (Author)
