Interest in propeller whirl instability can be traced to two recent in-flight failures of modern turboprop transport, attributable to propeller whirl phenomenon; series of nonmathematical notes are presented on various aspects of propeller whirl phenomenon; descriptions are given of mechanics of problem together with origins of various forces involved; methods of solutions and typical results are given.
