A method of controlling a microclimate environment of an occupant includes determining a thermal balance for the occupant in the microclimate environment based on a thermal model of a heat transfer effect to the occupant; evaluating an overall thermal sensation of the occupant based on the thermal balance; taking the target overall thermal sensation of the passenger as a reference; calculating an error between the evaluated overall thermal sensation and the target overall thermal sensation; and controlling at least one thermal effect device in at least one region in the microclimate environment to reduce errors in overall thermal sensation while maintaining all the effect devices within limits of temperature and flow rate that ensure occupant comfort.
