Over past few years, Institute of Electronics, Chinese Academy of sciences (IECAS) has developed L-, S-, C, and X– band antennas for active radar calibrators. Low cost multiband antenna is designed for radar imaging applications, which can be used for five frequency bands that remain adoptable for radar, International Telecommunication Union (FFU) services, mobile and satellite broadcasting purposes. The simulated and designed antenna is mounted on FR-4 material with a thickness of 1. 6mm using HFSS simulation tool. The physical size of proposed antenna is 40mmx40mm. With the effectiveness of defected ground and defected metallic patch, the size of antenna is significantly miniaturized.
