The proposed project would complete the final 2.9 mile segment of the 18.0 mile Klamath Lake-West Side Highway (Forest Highway No. 48, Federal Aid Secondary Highway No. 420) to a modern standard providing a transportation facility. The project will convert approximately 76 acres of land from timber meadow and marsh to highway use. An estimated 4.5 acres of private land will be isolated on steep ground above the cut bank. Some temporary disruption of aquatic life and habitat may occur at the crossings of Four Mile Creek and Varney Creek. Danger to deer as a result of increased traffic speeds may also result.
