The extreme conditions of the space environment will cause the components that are on the satellite especially those made of plastic and lenses that will experience expansion or shrinkage. This causes the camera lens on the satellite that was originally set to focus at a certain distance may change, so we need a camera lens focus control module that can be controlled from a ground station using a bipolar stepper motor. This camera lens focus controller module designed for the LAPAN-A4 satellite is made of high-performance components and has a fast response time to anticipate the short contact time between the satellite and the ground station, and a size small enough to save space on the very limited satellite structures. The drive circuit for a bipolar stepper motor is made using 2 H-bridge circuits using MOSFETs and optocouplers. The specifications of this module can move the focus of the lenses of 3 LAPAN-A4 satellite cameras, first the Experiment LAPAN Line Imager Space Application (ELLISA), Long Wave Infrared (LWIR), and Short-Wave Infrared (SWIR) cameras, with movements to the left or right according to the desired setting with a displacement angle of 1.80° per step. Besides that, this module is equipped with a heating circuit capable of lifting a Charged Coupled Device (CCD) camera, processing the readings of several temperature sensors, and sent to the RS422 interface to be forwarded to the Onboard Data Handling LAPAN-A4 satellite.
