3D printing additive manufacturing (AM) is now one of most promising industrial technologies. The development of reliable Non Destructive Testing (NDT) procedures for AM products, on the other hand, is a major concern. Indeed, AM creates unique fault shapes, dimensions, and locations that necessitate tailored and more appropriate NDT methods. This problem is exacerbated in the case of composite AM. Delamination of matrix layers porosities due to a lack of bonding between the matrix and the reinforcements (inter-filament discontinuity and path discontinuity) support material entrapped between internal surfaces In the Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) AM process, defects such as misaligned reinforcements or excessive surface roughness are all possible. Because these general purpose NDT techniques were designed to address a wide range of needs and operational scenarios, detecting such flaws with existing conventional NDT procedures has significant limitations. This research focuses on one of the most difficult NDT challenges: identifying flaws in AM-created composite materials.
