The interest in ducted propellers has been reignited with the recent growth of research enthusiasm for the unmanned air vehicles. The need for optimum design of the duct shape is met with challenges regarding the flow interactions between the rotor and duct, the freestream velocity changes and specific rotor configurations imposed by the particular UAV adopted solution. In modeling and predicting the performance of ducted fans the analytical equations are used in this research together with the numerical methods implemented through a CFD solver. Our research focuses on numerically analyzing the ducted fan assembly, with respect to design parameters and flow constrains imposed by an experimental mini paramotor UAV. Simulation results are used with experimental data in order to propose a better mini paramotor configuration.
