Technological processes in almost all areas of human activity imply a reduction in labor costs and an increase in efficiency in performing tasks. This article discusses educational technologies focused on the acquisition of competencies by students in terms of maintenance and management of the elements of ship power engineering. Taking into account the small number of personnel, it is extremely important for ship crews to study not only theoretical material, but also to develop practical skills. This can be partially achieved by conducting practical and laboratory classes, but for modern ship power plants with a high level of automation and with sufficiently complex integrated control systems, without training complexes, the proper degree of training cannot be provided. The article deals with the most common and proven in the practice of training ship mechanics and electricians training complexes. Their use is aimed at developing the skills of propulsion system control, ensuring the efficiency and safety of operation, both of individual components of the installation and of the vessel as a whole.
