In recent years, instead of traditional carbon-fuelled engines, the use of hybrid systems or electric motors as vehicles on board aircraft has been considered. This is due to environmental requirements, economic indicators, and flight safety. In addition, trends in aircraft construction associated with an increase in the level of electrification and aircraft, lead, firstly, to an increase in the power of the volume of consumed electrical energy on board aircraft and helicopters, and secondly, to the need for a more rational use of the existing onboard energy, taking into account the requirements of the functioning of the target and auxiliary equipment, as well as the implementation of a given route and flight mode. A distinction should be made between the levels of aircraft electrification. An aircraft with increased electrification of equipment is an aircraft in which thrust is created by traditional gas turbine or reciprocating internal combustion engines, and most of the equipment for its operation is powered by a centralized power supply system. A fully electric aircraft is an aircraft in which all functional equipment receives only electrical energy for its operation, and the movement of the aircraft is carried out using an electric propulsion system. An intermediate version of an all-electric aircraft is a hybrid aircraft, which can use internal combustion engines to generate electricity (or additional mechanical energy).
