A new method of using mechanical joint element (MJE) to cross the interface of young and old concrete to reinforce the combination of the repaired concrete road slab is put forward. The performance of the MJE in the splitting sample is investigated by contrasting the splitting test results and the finite element method calculation results of the whole young concrete specimen, the young and old concrete bonding specimen and the young and old concrete specimen with MJE. The stress distributed rule of young and old concrete interface is discussed. The Finite element model of young and old slab with MJE and the compare model under wheel load are established, results show: property of the mended pavement is improved efficiently because of MJE. The influence of different MJE ratio on the mended road slab is discussed and the reasonable ratio of MJE is proposed.
