In this paper, a simple but optimal control method is proposed for the control of semi-active devices. The novel controller utilizes a decayed exponential function to generate the control signal for the fluid damper. There are only two parameters for adjustment: one is the decay rate, another is the response gain. Such a simple control law does not need the system modeling knowledge, also is quite straightforward for field technician to utilize in tuning-up.
