Railway freight transportation is a very important issue in the development of national economic. This paper presents a railway freight transportation capacity optimal problem with the consideration of integrated logistics system. The classical railway capacity optimal problem can equivalent to the train scheduling problem. This paper consider with two kinds of cost: (i) the inventory costs: incurs when the train arrived in the railway freight station; (ii) the transportation costs: incurs when there exists a train operation between a source and a destination. A new model for the railway capacity planning with consideration of integrated logistics is established on the basis of classic train scheduling models, the proposed models, more close to the realistic world, can provide better support to the development of transportation. A genetic algorithm for solving this problem is proposed and demonstrated; a numerical example reveals that the GA can obtain good solution of the problem effective.
