The Waterway Transport Industry of Liaoning Province plays a crucial role during the transformation process from import-oriented economy to export-oriented one in Northeast China. The study employs the input-output analysis to examine the inter-industry linkage effects of the Waterway Transport Industry and its economic contribution, with specific application to Liaoning Province. The results show that the transport industry has higher push effects than its pulled effects given by the national economy.
