More and more urban residents are choosing non-motorized vehicles to achieve the “last mile” of travel. Therefore, this paper conducted research on the safety of non-motorized vehicles riding on urban roads. A sensitivity measuring instrument (SMI) camera obtained the visual characteristics data of non-motor vehicle drivers riding on different road environments. Accordingly, data of the actual data of non-motor vehicle drivers, which include fixation duration, saccade duration, pupil diameter, saccade velocity, and saccade amplitude data from different road traffic environments was analyzed. The experimental results show that non-motorized vehicle riders on urban roads search for the target information mainly by scanning activities; and in the complex and crowded traffic environments, riders usually take longer each time to get enough information. The research results of the article can provide guidance to the safety of riding of non-motor vehicles, which is conducive to a safe, healthy, and sustainable development of green transportation.
