In order to study the traffic efficiency of ramp intersections, the Monte Carlo simulation experiment was carried out by programming based on traffic flow theory and critical gap theory, and the relationship between the average delay and total conflict traffic volume was studied at a ramp intersection. According to the simulation results, the average delay of vehicles increased slowly first, and then sharply with the increase of the total conflict traffic volume. Moreover, when the main traffic volume (Qm) was greater than the minor traffic volume (Qc), the average delay, and total conflict traffic volume had higher correlation and fitting degree. Therefore, the relationship model between the two variables was established in the case of Qm ≥ Qc. Finally, according to the existing specification about average delay at different service levels for unsignalized intersection, the total conflict traffic volume to different service levels at ramp intersections was back-calculated based on the relationship model.
