The reliability of urban rail networks in operation is addressed based on the theory and methodology of the complex network connectivity, and two quantitative indices, the probability of network connection and the relative rate of connectivity, are proposed for evaluation of the reliability. The short-term plan of the rail network in Shanghai is investigated as an example to represent the procedures of analysis.
