During the operation of buses, operating conditions may change, and the original uniform departure interval cannot meet the system requirements. These factors may lead to problems such as the reduction of the average passenger load factor and the increase of passenger waiting time. This paper mainly studies the optimization of bus dispatching systems and uses the dynamic programming method in the principle of operations research, assuming that road conditions and passenger flow conditions affect the instability parameters of the dispatching system. On the basis of ensuring low operating costs, the bus operation process is transformed into a multi-stage decision-making optimization problem to find the optimal strategy to satisfy the passengers’ travel demand. The inverse recursive method is used to solve this problem and the result shows that the average waiting time is reduced by 6 min, and the bus full load rate is increased to 95.26%.
