The directional stability of the vehicle mainly depends on the contact between the type and road surface. The frictional properties of the tyre and shear forces occurring between tyre and road have a great influence on the force transmission and rolling resistance, as well. In the paper, the author determines the effect of the vertical load, road surface and the speed of travelling on the force transmission on the basis of the measurements of rolling- resistance and power-loss under several conditions, i.e. on wet and dry surface considering a lot of variables. From the viewpoint of the force transmission the material of the tyre is said to be optimal if it has considerable damping. However, it has disadvantage from the point of view of rolling resistance. It can be concluded that these two requirements are contradictory.
