This paper shows an overview of the state of the art in the UTM MMR (Ultimate Training Munitions Man Marker Round) 5.56 mm marker cartridges with a description of its design and operating principle. This paper also includes an overview of several UTM training conversion kits enabling the use of UTM MMR ammunition in 5.56 mm rifles, complete with a description of their design, operating principle, and safety precaution solutions for users. Based on a series of analyses, a UTM MMR training conversion kit was developed and described for the MSBS-5.56 assault rifle.
