This paper focuses on the knowledge of propulsive and hydrodynamic characteristics in a Trimaran vessel with respect to an equivalent monohull platform in an optimum sizing range for oceanic escort ships. This research project has been carried out in the Channel of Hydrodynamic experiences of El Pardo (CEHIPAR), the project includes the dimensioning of the ship’s live part construction, design of main hull shapes and design alternatives for side hulls. The hydrodynamic quality of the hull alternatives was evaluated by using nonlinear potential CFD Computational Fluid Dynamics calculations, and the trimaran platform was analysed by difficult numerical calculation, showing that the trimaran bottom is satisfactory, with stability characteristics for the displacement.
