Ship model tests in flumes; flume built by firm of J. M. Voith for better observation of flow conditions round ship models driven by Voith-Schneider propellers; layout permits use of smaller models than usually employed and enables flow conditions to be studied in way scarcely possible in tanks where model moves forward while water remains stationary. (see also brief English abstract in Mar Engr v 59 n 706 July 1936 p 202)
