Wing pivot structure, which is key to United States supersonic transport, has been developed through one-quarter scale and full-scale tests, and complete wing pivot structure, including fixed inboard portion and movable outboard portion, is currently in test; Ti 6Al-4V alloy that has been selected for wing primary structure will meet 50,000 hr design life of airplane; with proper inspection and maintenance, fatigue life of this fail-safe structure can be extended indefinitely; direct lift control system, and supersonic inlet control system also discussed.
