Since introduction of electric traction as alternative means of operation for railways, whether "straight" electric or in conjunction with Diesel generating set, problem which has faced designer of every type of vehicle is method of mounting driving motor; in touching briefly on alternatives available, author reviews particular methods to be adopted for removing motor when this is nose suspended driving unit; four schemes of electric drive available.
