Hypersonic tunnels require solution of problems associated with high stagnation temperatures and pressures and more critical dimensional tolerances; solutions employed by Jet Propulsion Laboratory of Calif Inst Technology are outlined based on both supersonic and hypersonic tunnel design and operational experience.
