Engineering techniques applicable to rendezvous and docking of two cooperative spacecraft are treated, from set of initial conditions at acquisition and followed by midcourse guidance phase, braking phase, terminal guidance phase, to final mechanical interconnection; fuel economy, equipment complexity, and practical constraints imposed by present day hardware capabilities are considered; dynamic aspects of docking during period between initial contact and final mating, including structural requirements imposed on mechanisms.
