Attempt is made to formalize and specify pertinent parameters which affect design of orbital attachment and connection systems; since there are not specific missions or functional operations to which definite techniques and parameters may be specified, only logical or anticipated parameters may be dealt with; wide range of vehicles and missions is analyzed; general functions such as transfer, replacement, and recovery can be analyzed to provide basic understanding for derivation and evaluation of conceptual design criteria.
