Analytical procedure comprising feasibility and preliminary design studies, preliminary and final design, and minimizing space radiation hazard; radiation dosages are shown to differ significantly among different spacecraft configurations for same mission; estimated radiation dosage levels also vary; in view of important mission-configuration-dosage relationships that have been found and detailed body-radiation tolerances now specified, efficient treatment of radiation hazards to manned spaceflight must begin during preliminary design.
