Problem inherent in use of satellites for observation is difficulty of "gridding" observed event, i.e., relating it to geographic point on earth; geometrical method for gridding pictorial frames of cloud data obtained by vidicon system in Nimbus Satellite is described; particular formulation of problem leads to explicit bilateral mapping procedure between earth coordinates and image plane coordinates that has desirable computational consequences; results of gridding computation are presented.
