Analysis of satellite trajectories subject to influence of air drag; orbital perturbations are divided into short-and long-periodic, and secular types; by analysis of perturbations, it is possible to deduce from orbital data average density, and variation of density along orbit; a priori knowledge of short-periodic perturbations is of concern in reconnaissance and rendezvous missions; closed from solutions are obtained for large descent into spherically symmetrical atmosphere with exponentially increasing density, and small descent under influence of density that varies along orbit as result of diurnal variation or atmospheric oblateness.
