Problem of recovery of very large first stage boosters of Saturn Class; 2 design approaches utilizing inflatable paragliders are presented -- conventional methods wherein booster is suspended beneath parawing, and integral booster method; latter employs booster itself as center keel of paraglider; relative merits of 2 methods are compared with respect to weight penalties, packaging, retrieval, logistic support and overall performance; booster recovery is technically and economically feasible if suitable retrieval methods can be developed.
