Damping vs velocity technique of flight flutter testing is known to have shortcomings; new technique of flight flutter testing presented is based on use of flutter stability parameter truly indicative of state of flutter stability within system; parameter is based on measured frequency and decay data taken during flight and clearly shows corrosion of flutter margin with increasing speed; using this information, and flutter prediction technique presented, it is possible to predict behavior of flutter margin at speeds not yet flown and speed of flutter onset.
