Comments for and against use of lightalloy pistons; aluminum is very desirable material for pistons when its extreme lightness and its high thermal conductivity is considered; high speeds of rotation demand its use; there are great difficulties which stand in way to its adoption commercially for large-diameter pistons; for marine auxiliary engines there would appear to be excellent opening for such pistons.
