Pilot study of system designed to provide precise location terminology for use by department operating personnel, emergency-service personnel and traveling public in case of emergency; intention of system is to assign local number and letter designation to each freeway ramp as shorthand method of indicating location; system features use of distinctive 18×12-in. green and white signs to identify ramp segments of freeway; top half of sign identifies roadway as RAMP, LOOP or LEG, depending on geometrics of interchange; bottom half shows interchange number and letter to specify interchange segment.
