Aircraft, which is modified Navy SH-3A helicopter, was tested in 8 distinct configurations ranging from pure helicopter to compound helicopter with wings and auxiliary jet engines for propulsion; true airspeeds of 200 knots or above were achieved for all configurations tested except for pure helicopter cases; program demonstrated that speeds above 200 knots can be readily achieved with compound helicopter having fully articulated rotor system, with good inherent flying qualities, low vibration and stresses, and good useful load.
