Speed increment requirements are investigated for spacecraft traveling from circular parking orbit about Earth, to vicinity of planet Mars, into circular parking orbit about Mars, out of circular parking orbit about Mars (after stay time of 7 days), to vicinity of Earth, and back into circular parking orbit about Earth; three-dimensional analytic conic approximation to accurate integrated trajectory is used in analysis; characteristics of trajectories from Earth to Mars and return for decade beginning Jan 1970 and ending Jan 1980 are investigated for four round-trip flight times.
