Differences between manned and unmanned spacecraft structures are examined with respect to environmental and functional requirements; materials characteristics involved in those requirements and resulting typical configurations are reviewed; it is concluded that vibration and pressurized gas containment have outstanding influence on spacecraft structural systems.
