Semiempiric, dimensionless load coefficient is developed from extensive Waterways Experiment Station (WES) field and laboratory data on performance of pneumatic tires in dry sands; coefficient appears to collapse these diverse data to useful degree; physical meaning of numeric is discussed, and its relation to some earlier work is shown: preliminary consolidation of data using final form of numeric is presented.
