New Hitachi Zosen dock can accommodate ships of up to 250,000 tons dw and is 1310 ft long, 177 ft wide, and 25 ft 6 in. deep; it is closed by flap-type gate and served by two 200-ton Hitachi-Demag gantry cranes spanning dock and its prefabricated section storage area at end, as well as by one 200-ton jib crane on one quay and 15-ton level-luffing crane on other; while one tanker is being completed (outfitting of after section) at rear part of dock, work is begun on stern section of next ship at head of dock; first completion was 119, 872-ton dw tanker Bergehaven for Sig. Bergesen d.y. of Stavanger; main particulars are given for ship, which is propelled by 27,600 bhp Hitachi-B and W engine.
