Notes on roll-on roll-off cargo ship to be built by Sun Shipbuilding and Drydock Co to order of American Export Isbrandtsen Lines for charter to U S Navy Military Sea Transportation Service; length oa 672 ft, breadth 91 ft, depth 58 ft, dw 7000 tons, draft 27 ft 6 in.; two Pratt and Whitney FT4 gas turbines driving fixed-pitch propellers through Airflex clutches and Falk reduction gears will be fitted; FT4 incorporates dual-shaft axial-flow compressor, can-annular combustion section with eight through-flow combustion chambers, and three-stage reaction compressor drive turbine; two-stage free power turbine to extract maximum energy from gas stream develops up to 30,000 bhp at 3600 rpm.
