To study problems of buffeting on payloads and boosters, method was developed to apply experimental data, using power spectral techniques, in prediction of vehicle structural loads; wind-tunnel test was conducted on payload to measure needed power and cross-power spectral density functions of local buffeting forces or pressures; reduced data, circumferential and longitudinal correlations of unsteady pressures and local normal force, power and cross-power spectra of unsteady pressures, and local normal force for 0.91 Mach, and angle of attack of 0° to 6° are illustrated indicating large negative values of longitudinal correlation between fluctuating pressures and local normal force in boattail region.
