During evaluation of experimental high-speed landing craft, older conventional landing craft was repowered; with twin light weight diesels for top speed of about 34 knots, and instrumented as trial horse; model propulsion tests were conducted for correlation with full-scale trials and to explore effects of displacement variations, effects of trim flaps and resistance of appendages; correlation of thrust, power, and trim was rather poor above planing hump; propeller performance with series data, even where cavitating, was good.
