Experimental ramp control system was developed by Automatic Signal, A Div of Laboratory for Electronics, Inc, of Norwalk, Conn; under control system vehicle waits at signal for suitable gap to be sensed on outer freeway lane and is released by green light in time to accelerate to merging area as gap approached; special problems and system components of Capacity-Demand and Gap-Acceptance methods of ramp control are discussed.
