Western region of Pennsylvania has developed two power gaging machines for use in conjunction with rail laying operations carried out with rail train organizations; machines, which provide for 6-point gaging of each rail length, are each powered and moved by 500-cu ft on-track, self propelled air compressor, which also supplies air for driving gaging spikes; article describes design and construction of machine and method of operations, and gives details of supplemental operations.
