A-c power plants which can be connected together by train line are offered by Railway Div of Waukesha Motor Co, for supplying passenger trains with power for air conditioning, lighting and other requirements; use of complicated switchgear for synchronizing is avoided by placing fluid coupling between engine and generator; power units consist of 6-cyl, 4-cycle vertical Diesel engine, coupled to a-c 220-v, 60-cycle, 3-phase alternator of 31.25 kva capacity, and driven at 1800 rpm.
