Steering gears of train ferry operated by French State Railways; control of rudder is effected by two Hastie-type Hele-Shaw pumps, each driven by 18-hp electric motor; each pumping unit is capable of moving rudder from hard-over to hard-over in 25 sec, with vessel proceeding at full speed ahead and exerting twisting moment on rudderstock of 60 ft tons.
